Our chicken, both free-range and RSPCA Approved chicken, is sourced from Hazeldenes – Australia’s best chicken producer.
Based near Bendigo, Victoria, Hazeldenes has been raising exceptional chicken since 1938. Today, they lead the industry in animal welfare, innovation, quality, and value.
At Gamekeepers, we procure whole birds and break them down in-house. We specifically select Size 17 chickens to ensure optimal, consistent portions of the breast and leg meat — and because this size delivers the best flavour profile.
Birds are raised in enriched barn environments with space to move around, perch, dust-bathe, and forage. This is essential for the birds to express natural behaviours and develop healthy muscle and fat tissue, which contributes to high-quality meat.
Free-range birds can forage naturally and instinctively outdoors among grasses, weeds, shrubs, and trees in a secure environment. Their diet includes locally sourced multi-grains, blended with spice extracts and essential oils for balanced nutrition.
Hazeldenes have a zero-use policy for added antibiotic growth promotant.

- All Hazeldenes chicken is RSPCA approved. Hazeldenes has a strong commitment to animal welfare at all stages of the breeding, growing and feeding cycle.
- Birds are raised in an enriched barn environment, with space to move around and perch, good lighting, dust-bathe and forage. This is essential for the birds to express innate behaviours and to have good muscle and fat tissue, which in turn ensures high-quality tasting meat.
- Hazeldenes have a zero-use policy for added Antibiotic Growth Promotant.
FREE-RANGE HAZELDENES CHICKEN
- Birds have the ability to forage naturally and instinctively amongst grasses, weeds, bushes and trees in a secure environment.
- Their diet is supported with locally-supplied multi-grains, blended with spice extracts and essential oils. This creates healthy and high-quality tasting free-range chicken.
- Hazeldenes, accredited by FREPA (The Free Range Egg and Poultry Association), was amongst the first meat poultry producers to receive free-range accreditation in Victoria.
