Gamekeepers is owned and operated by Jerome and Annabelle Hoban. Jerome is a professional chef, and has cooked in many leading restaurants both here in Melbourne and in London.
In 2008, they decided to trade in their successful restaurant in Albert Park, L’Oustal, and instead, bought a game farm business in Cardinia, an hours drive south-east of Melbourne. Trading nights for early mornings, kitchen for paddock, city bustle for squawking birds, the farm was a change in pace and scenery, but still in keeping with their passion for food.
In 2013, in the aim to give their growing number of customers the best possible service, Gamekeepers moved to Moorabbin in a purpose built factory. For the past 6 years they have built strong relationships with local farmers and producers, which has given Gamekeepers a great reputation for quality meats. They have left the farm but not their passion for great product and customer service.
Sourcing some of the best meat from around the country which can include John Dee beef, Bultarra Saltbush lamb, and Archie’s Creek veal, Eugowra quails, the Gamekeepers product range is all about quality. Local producers with sustainable practices also feature heavily in our range, and we are proud to offer Moondarah wagyu beef, Victorian-grown free range pork and Gippsland grass fed beef products.
On the farm, Gamekeepers produced it’s own Wessex saddleback pigs and game birds, and were one of only two Victorian producers to hatch, rear, process and deliver pheasant, partridge and guinea fowl. But these products are now sourced from trusted local farmers since Gamekeepers moved to the city.
Gamekeepers now supplies some of the most acclaimed restaurants in Melbourne, including Matilda, Amaru, Rosetta, Spice Temple, Cicciolina, Grossi Florentino and Montalto – restaurants whose reputation depends on the quality of their product, and the timeliness of its delivery.
